The valve rotating device for exhaust valves, especially of ships' diesel engines, is supported in a valve housing (2) between a lower and an upper drive element for the valve spindle (1). The rotation of the valve spindle is effected through a rotary cylinder (15) with engages with a stationary support cylinder (13). The rotary cylinder and stationary support cylinder inter-engage via a helical gearing, whereby the rotary cylinder is connected to the valve spindle via an overrunning device and the support cylinder is fastened on the valve housing side.
