The shelf has two side components (15, 16) provided between a lower horizontal plate (11) and an upper horizontal plate (12). Upper frontal edges of the side components lie at a lower flat side of the upper plate and lower frontal edges of the side units lie at an upper flat side of the lower plate. The upper plate is braced with the lower plate through a tensioning rope (17), and the side components clamp themselves. The rope is anchored at the lower plate, and stretched through intermediate plates (13, 14).
