A demountable shelving system for heavy loads has at four profiled uprights (2) made of folded slotted metal linked to clip fastening horizontal supports (7). Load spreading profiles (9) are clipped to the uprights and are provided with reinforced slots into which the shelf supports are clipped. The load spreading profiles are secured by a number of tags and are each provided with a reinforcing horizontal crease positioned under the shelf supports.
