Insertion template (1) comprises positioning markers (9, 10) which are recognized by an observation beam to align the temple in a predetermined position along the periphery of the vertebral body (4), and an insertion marker (11) formed on the template to display the insertion point and the insertion direction for the intermediate vertebral implant inserted into the intermediate chamber. An independent claim is also included for a set of insertion templates. Preferred Features: The insertion template is transparent for the observation beam. The distance between the positioning markers is selected so that they are displaced on the vertebral body by 90[deg] during insertion of the template.
