The surgical controller (26) is wirelessly connected to the surgical system (10) containing various surgical devices, e.g. camera (12), documentation unit (14), light source (16), pump (20). The controller is preferably a handheld personal computer e.g. PDA and the wireless connection uses a Bluetooth (RTM) interface (28).
