The electrochemical biosensor strip incorporates a rectangular baseplate (10). It has an electrode system (20) mounted on the baseplate. The electrode system has a silver layer (22) in contact with the baseplate, and covered with a carbon layer (24). The silver layer has an X-shaped member (23) covered with a carbon arrow-shaped member (25). The electrochemical biosensor strip holds a test reagent. Spacer (30) and cover (40) layers are applied over the electrode system. There are openings (32,34) in the spacer layer.
