The load protection control circuit has a current or voltage protection stage (20) comparing the current or voltage used for driving the load (50) with a reference current or reference voltage, for providing a protection signal for the control circuit (40) of the current or voltage supply, for switching the current or voltage converter circuit (10) of the latter. The current or voltage protection stage and the control circuit are coupled via a switch circuit (30) which is operated for selectively supplying the protection signal to the control circuit.
