Workpiece clamping device for a machine tool has high- temperature swarf deflecting components. Accordingly a clamping wall (2), stabilizing ribs (3) or adapter plate of a clamping body (1) has channels (6) for compressed air and or channels for swarf deflection. The channels have outlet holes (7) next to the workpiece or deflection holes directly in the swarf deposition locations. Thus directed compressed air is used to deflect swarf, while a suction flow is used to remove the deflected swarf.
