The lid may have an aperture in it through which the tea or coffee may be drunk. The inverted cup-shaped lid increases the capacity of the cup and lid assembly. A watertight join between the cup and the lid is made with the plastics ring having the same circumference as the rims of the cup and the lid. The cup and lid may be glued together using two one-sided adhesive strips.
