Device for monitoring at least a ferromagnetic part completely contained within a non-ferromagnetic base body comprises: a GMI (giant magnetic impedance) sensor element (11) attached to the embedded ferromagnetic part (12) so that it is contained within the magnetic scatter field of the part; means for applying a high-frequency alternating field to the sensor element and; means for measuring the alternating current resistance of the sensor dependent on the magnetic scatter field.
