The device for the measurement of the oil consumption of an internal combustion engine (1) has an oil circuit which from an oil sump (2) of the engine leads through an outer oil tank (6) back to the oil sump. Means for the forced feeding of the oil into the oil circuit are provided, and a measuring device determines the amount of oil inside the oil tank. The oil tank is designed to hold the whole volume of oil for the engine. The device is in the form of a gravimetric or volumetric measuring device.
