The barcode reader has two light sources (2) consisting of LED's (21) shining parallel beams of light onto curved (221) mirrors (22). The mirrors produce spreading light beams which pass through condenser lenses (3) and illuminate the barcode (4). Light reflected from the barcode passes through a centrally-placed focusing lens (1) to form a real image on the focal plane (11) of the barcode reader.
