Synergistic herbicidal combination for selective weed control in crops, especially cereals, comprises phenylsulfonyl-urea derivative and another herbicide, e.g. flucarbazone or aclonifen
A herbicidal combination comprises: (i) at least one N-phenylsulfonyl-N'-(pyrimidin-2-yl or 1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-urea derivative (I); and (ii) at least one of 16 other specific herbicides suitable for selective control of mono- and dicotyledonous weeds in some monocotyledonous crops, e.g. flucarbazone, halosulfuron, picolinafen, metosulam, flufenacet, prosulfocarb or aclonifen. A herbicidal combination comprises: (a) at least one of sulfonylurea compounds of formula (I) and their salts; and (b) at least one further herbicide suitable for selective control of mono- and dicotyledonous weeds in some monocotyledonous crops, selected from flucarbazone (1), procarbazone (2) (BAY MKH 6561), florasulam (3), halosulfuron (4), tritosulfuron (5), picolinafen (6), cinidon-ethyl (7), mesotrione (8), metosulam (9), clopyralid (10), flufenacet (11), flumetsulam (12), flupoxam (13), prosulfocarb (14), flurtamone (15) and aclonifen (16). [Image] R 1 : 1-8C alkyl, 3-4C alkenyl or 3-4C alkynyl; or 1-4C alkyl substituted by 1-4 of halo, OMe and/or OEt; R 2 : I or CH 2NHSO 2Me; R 3 : Me or OMe; X : N or CH. Provided that combinations of (I; R 2 = CH 2NHSO 2Me; R 3 = Me or OMe; X = N or CH) or their salts with one or more of (B) (9), (13), (14) and (15) are excluded. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling undesirable plants, comprising applying (A) and (B), simultaneously or separately, pre- and/or post-emergence, to the plants, parts of the plants, seeds or the plant growth area. ACTIVITY : Herbicide. In post-emergence tests, the herbicidal effect was 35% against Setaria viridis and 0% against wheat for mesosulfuron-methyl (Ia) (used as a combination with the safener mefenpyr-diethyl) at 7.5 g/ha; 40% against Setaria viridis and 5% against wheat for flucarbazone (B) (1) at 10 g/ha; and 85% against Setaria viridis and 5% against wheat for a combination of (Ia) at 7.5 g/ha and (B) (1) at 10 g/ha.
