The stair climbing arrangement includes a handle enabling a user to operate the stair climbing arrangement. A pair of wheels (11,12) lifts or lowers the stair climbing arrangement to the nearest step of a staircase. The pair of wheels is driven by a motor. A control unit controls the operation of the pair of wheels, so that the climbing process can be interrupted when the pair of wheels reaches a predetermined position.
