An air filter e.g. pollen filter has a fan-fold fleece filter web insert. The filter insert end-face has a flexible stiffening tab (1A) running parallel to the folds (F) and having a side extension (1B) tab. The stiffening tab is located on that side of the fan fold structure opposite to the incoming flow (S). The side extension tab (1B) is folded along the link line (V) outwards and towards the incoming flow (S).
