The exercise machine and treadmill has an extra apparatus (5) with two guide pulleys (51, 52) and a belt (6) guided parallel to the running direction with fixing elements for attaching same at the side of the exercise machine. The belt can have its own drive with a coupling to one of the axles of the treadmill. The length of the belt is preferably about 1/2 to 7/8 the length of the treadmill.
