The clamping device (1) has a holding element (2) provided with a post holder (6) and an attached clamp element (3), fitted with a sliding sleeve element (11) having a gripper (12) which engages a retention element (16), e.g. a reinforcing wire loop (17), of a barrier element (15), fitted through an opening (7) in the holding element. The latter is pressed against the barrier element while a longitudinal tension force is exerted on the retention element.
