A football training equipment projects balls in a preset direction and with a preset force. The balls (4) are dropped one at a time onto a sloping ramp (13) and are struck by the bottom end of a flexible shaft (6) secured onto a swivel mounting (8) near the top end and with the bottom end held by a release catch (10, 14). The shaft is tensioned by a servo drive (11) which can be pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical. The top end of the shaft extends past the swivel mounting and forms a simple gate action to drop another ball onto the ramp when the previous ball has been projected.
