A large-scale fermenter (2) to generate a biogas from a biomass, comprising a container (20) to hold the rotting mass with an opening (30) to insert and remove the mass which is closed by a gas-tight flap (32), and a gas-tight base plate (22) carrying a stable and vertical framework (24), to support a gas-tight film shrouding (44), where the shrouding gives a gas-tight seal for the biomass container, is new. A large-scale fermenter (2) to generate a biogas from a biomass, using solid matter methanation, comprising a container (20) to hold the rotting mass with an opening (30) to insert and remove the mass which is closed by a gas-tight flap (32), and a gas-tight base plate (22) carrying a stable and vertical framework (24), to support a gas-tight film shrouding (44), where the shrouding gives a gas-tight seal for the biomass container and the opening around the outer sides of the framework and the base plate.
