Method for identifying the nature and amount of a material in a specimen comprises:producing pre-dosed amounts of carrier particles loaded with probe or detector molecules;drying the particles;contacting them with a fluid containing marked specimen substance, the particles being contacted sequentially with this fluid and with liquid(s) containing marker and reporter substances;and measuring a marking parameter related to the specimen material after a specific period of time. The carrier particles which are loaded with probe or detector molecules differ in size, color or color intensity and their size and/or color is determined in the last stage. An independent claim is included for a test system for use in carrying out the method comprising dried, pre-dosed carrier particles which differ in size and/or color.
