The reception system has an antenna device (11) coupled to an electronic reception stage with an amplifier and a switching device, for switching between active and passive reception, with selective amplification of the antenna signals. The antenna device is attached to a portable electronic device, e.g. a laptop or notebook computer (1), in alternative positions for reception of vertically polarized or horizontally polarized signals.
