The drain connection (51) fits into the bottom of a washbasin, bathtub shower cubicle, bidet etc. (5). It has a male thread (52) engaging with a female thread on a nut (3). The lower end of the nut has an internal conical surface compressing the tapered outer portion of a seal body (2). The seal body fits over the vertical input end (14) of a drainpipe (1) with a U-bend, and has a cylindrical portion fitting inside the pipe. The output end of the drainpipe (16) is horizontal, and fits into a seal (62) in the end of a drainage pipe (61) ending in an aperture in the wall (6) of the building.
