The connector conforms to DIN-ISO 7638/1+2 and 12908 and contains plug (1) and socket (2) units for the vehicles and a flexible cable between them, a connection region enclosing connection braids of cable leads and tightly connected to a contact plug unit into which connecting braids protrude, at least one strain reliever for the leads and a bend protector associated with the cable. The connection region has a plastic molding forming a protective sleeve enclosing the electric leads and integrated into the strain reliever and bend protector.
