The medical apparatus includes a coil for generating the pulsed magnetic field. The coil is formed as a toroid and surrounds an opening in a flexible carrier. This can be placed on a region (12) to be treated such that the region sits in the opening. The carrier may be e.g. in the form of a wrist watch strap or may be arranged as a strap to be fitted onto the head.
