The weighing scales (6) has a rocking plate (7) installed flush with the surface of a floor (2) or pathway and consists of a trough (1) inserted in a pit. The measuring device is visible through the balance plate. A smaller under-trough (11) forms a deeper section (5) within the main trough. The rocking plate has a bell-shaped frame (8) on the under side. This forms an air-tight upper inverted trough. An auxiliary trough (9) clips within this. These move freely in a vertical direction above the under-trough during weighing, so that between the edge of the plate and the edge (3) of the trough there is no way in which water can enter. This protects the weighing mechanism without obstructing it, ensuring continuing accuracy in use.
