The apparent target for infrared (IR) simulation of a moderately warm object such as a vehicle or a naval vessel is achieved by use of a droplet cloud which is ejected into air from the object, and contains substances progressively reacting with one another. This reaction takes place so that the IR radiation intensity increases with the distance of the droplet cloud from the point of its ejection until a maximum intensity is reached.
