Data backing-up, exchange and removal method for mobile and desktop PCs in which data stored on a first PC with a first operating system and environment is transferred to a second suitable data medium for backup purposes. The data backup includes system specific information, so that if an accident occurs to the first PC the second data medium can be connected to a second PC so that data including system data can be transferred to its (third) data storage unit. The system information and other data can be used to create a second computing environment that largely mirrors the first.
