An aluminium alloy of the 700 series is claimed hardened by precipitation and of high resistance which presents excellent resistance to corrosion, comprising an aluminium alloy with a microstructure having a grain size of 45 microns or less. The alloy also has a grain length to width relationship of 4 or less. Its properties are further enhanced by subsequent heat treatment operations. The method used to fabricate this aluminium alloy is also claimed.
