Heat-sensitive compounds having a turbidity point, which can be used as such extractants for the separation of metals in an aqueous solution

Heat-sensitive compositions which are soluble in water below a critical temperature Tc and insoluble in water above this temperature (the property being reversible) comprise a primary component derived from a non-ionic surfactant, with a cloud point in aqueous solution, chemically linked to a second component able to complex a chemical species. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the preparation of these compounds and (2) an extraction process for a chemical species.
