The light box (10) for a liquid-crystal screen has lateral walls with edges on which the screen is applied, and comprises means for retention (120c-d,140c-d) of the screen laid out on at least one of the edges. The retention means are constituted of grooves, in particular of two parallel grooves laid out on edges of two opposite walls (12,14). A display device is claimed and comprises the liquid-crystal screen (30) mounted on the light box (10). The screen comprises a front plate (31) and a rear plate (32), and at least one lateral extension cooperating with the retention means. The light box (10) is substantially of parallelepipedic form and comprises a back wall and four lateral or side walls (12,13,14,15) whose edges (120,130,140,150) demarcate an opening and constitute the support surface for the LCD screen. The rear plate (32) has lateral extensions (321,322) along edges so that the screen is mounted sliding in the grooves. The display device also comprises a color filter (40) in the form of a semi-rigid film applied against the rear plate, and has bumps (41) on the periphery for support on edges. The bumps (41) are formed by stamping. The film forming the filter is bonded to the rear plate on at least a part of the periphery. The assembly of the screen with the case is provided with covering means. The box is made of thermoplastic rigid material by molding. The first part (10) is the light box proper, and the second part (20) is for placing a card for controlling the LCD screen. The card is inserted into the base part (21) and a cover (22) closed. The filter is made, for example, of polycarbonate sheet.
