The method for improving the acoustic attenuation and reducing the closing hardness of a vehicle engine bonnet consists of providing at least one sealing joint (1) having a fixing part (3), which is mounted on the bonnet or the frame (10), and an elastically deformable part (5). The sealing joint is mounted with a variable degree of crushing so as prevent any compromise between the acoustic insulation and bonnet closing hardness functions which are two opposite functions in terms of the joint crushing value. An independent claim is included for a system of implementing the method.
