Production of indium carboxylate or carboxylate-halide for use e.g. as Lewis acid co-catalyst, involves reacting indium halide with alkali metal or ammonium carboxylate in anhydrous polar aprotic solvent
Indium carboxylates and mixed carboxylate-halides are obtained by reacting an indium halide with an alkali metal or ammonium carboxylate in anhydrous medium in presence of an anhydrous polar aprotic solvent. A method for the production of indium compounds of formula [R-COO]n-In-[X]x (I) involves reacting an indium halide with a compound of formula R-COOM (II) in an anhydrous medium in presence of an anhydrous, polar aprotic solvent. R : an optionally substituted aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic group; X : halogen; x : 0, 1 or 2; n : 3-x; M : an alkali metal or NH4-.
