The procedure for making articles of furniture from deformable sheet materials and especially plastic consists of cutting out the required shape before or after decorating it with an ink-jet printed design (D), smoothing the edges of the shape, heating it along predetermined fold lines (6, 8), and folding it along the lines to achieve the required shape. The plastic sheet is preferably between 6 and 20 mm thick, and the folds can be made by pressing it manually against a suitable template, e.g. made from wooden panels positioned at the required angle to one another. The procedure can be used, for example, to make a chair with a back (2) and seat (3) and two side panels (4, 5) acting as legs.
