The system has a chip card reader with electronic circuits to download a configuration data sequence into data processing circuits of a remote control device (2), upon pressing a set of keys (21, 22). The electronic circuits transmit a control code sequence in one-to-one correspondence with the data sequence. The electronic circuits transmit the code sequence to receiver circuits to modify multimedia application execution. Each sequence is associated with one of executed multimedia applications.
