The method involves defining a communication address for all communicating objects (2). A request (4) is addressed to the address to determine whether the objects exist in an environment in which a reader (1) is situated. The request conveying the presence of each object is received by the reader by transmitting a response signal (6) shifted in time with respect to response signal transmitted by other objects. An independent claim is also included for a system for establishing communication between a reader and communication objects.
