The process involves creating prelubricating oil pressure by connection of contact of a vehicle when an engine (1) is in stand-by. The engine is started by activating a starter (56) of the vehicle only when the pressure has reached a predetermined value. The provision of the oil is automatically cut when the pressure provided by a prelubrication oil pump of the engine has reached its normal operating value. An independent claim is also included for a prelubrication device.
