An electro-controlled device with optical/energy properties of variable transmission or reflection is formed as a self-supporting film. This film is formed from a mixture of at least one first element, adapted to provide an electro-chrome function, and at least one second element , adapted to provide an electrolyte function for transporting ionic charges at the core of the mixture. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a system incorporating at least one of these devices; (b) a method for the production of the electro-controlled device.
