The device (1) has containers forming compartments in which a cosmetic product is arranged, and authentication units (3) having a chemical reactant which is an organic acid such as lactic acid. A detectable visual modification of another chemical reactant such as a di-aminofluorane compound, on an additional authentication unit (5) is caused, when the two reactants are kept in contact. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a kit including a cosmetic product packaging device (b) a process of authentication of a cosmetic product packaging device.
