Optical device for processing an incident X-ray beam comprises a monochromator (M) and an optical conditioning element (20) with a reflecting surface which can produce a 2-dimensional optical effect to modify a beam that is then incident on the monochromator. The optical element is multi-layered with an X-ray reflecting surface. Said element has a single reflecting surface that is curved in two different directions.
