The method involves using a frequency or phase modulated signal emitted by a modulator (16) placed in a transmitter (12), for transmitting additional information required for recovering a clock signal. The clock signal is transmitted from the transmitter to a receiver (14) through the Ethernet network (10). The clock signal is recovered by a synchronization detector (26) placed in the receiver, using the information. An independent claim is also included for a device for recovering scheduling information in a packet transmission network at the level of a receiver.
