An automatic detector senses sensing broken eggs, allowing selective control of a vacuum system linked to a collector above the conveyor. A set of pistons may be selectively activated to remove a broken or cracked egg. The system provides extraction of broken or cracked eggs from a number of parallel rows (10) on a conveyor. The vacuum system includes a conduit (6) connected to the collector, and formed by the juxtaposition of a series of modular elements, each modular element facing one row (10) of the conveyor. A series of pistons is provided, normally blocking the modular elements, but able to be activated in order to remove a broken or cracked egg. The head of each piston is conical in section, and cooperates with the input (9) of the modular element.
