An optical device is dedicated to the dynamic measurement of power loss in an optical fiber (FO) having first (E1) and second (E2) ends respectively for receiving and delivering primary optical signals. The device comprises injection means (3), in charge of injecting supervision signals into the optical fiber (FO) at its second end (E2), under a chosen optical power, and detection means (5). ) to extract the supervision signals at the first end (E1) of the optical fiber (FO) to determine their optical power and derive from this power and the chosen optical power primary information representative of the loss of optical power of the optical fiber (FO) supervisory signals, as well as possibly comparing the primary information to a value representative of the nominal optical power loss in the optical fiber (FO), so as to provide representative secondary information a variation of power loss in the optical fiber.
