The device has a coupling mechanism between a shaft and an axle. The axle is driven by a mandrel of a drill/endless electrical screw driver (7) equipped with an autonomous energy source to permit rolling of a swimming pool cover (2). The coupling mechanism has a hollow wheel system, an endless screw and an index pin to ensure disengagement between the hollow wheel and the endless screw.
