The device has a sensor fixed on the skin of an aircraft. The sensor has a heating wire (36) to dissipate thermal power to reheat the sensor by Joule effect to avoid formation of frost in the sensor. A correction unit corrects temperature read by a temperature sensor based on infinite upstream parameters of an aircraft and power dissipated in the former sensor, to obtain total temperature of air flow surrounding the former sensor. An independent claim is also included for a method of determining total temperature of an aircraft.
