The machine has a cylindrical annular space (6) for receiving magnetic field gradient production devices. The devices have circular magnetic coils engaged in tubes (46-52). The coils have diameter (9) inscribed in a thickness (10) of the annular space and an axis parallel to a direction of a principal magnetic field. The coils provide magnetic field gradients in different directions, when they are supplied by selected current.
