The process involves setting displacement of an agricultural machine with respect to a side of a beet zone (Z1). A working-width (L) of the machine is fixed against the side (B1). Analyzer windows attached to the machine and situated astride sides (B1, B2) are predefined. The setting of the displacement is realized by determining respective proportions of treated surfaces and surfaces to be treated at the interior of the windows. An independent claim is also included for an agricultural machine for treating plants disposed to an interior of a zone.
