The assembly, comprising a wheel carrier with a hub (4) and shaft (5), a wheel (33) with a tire supporting ring (32) and tire (31), and a suspension unit with a spring (6) and shock absorber (81), has the shock absorber designed to produce a characteristic function curve when the assembly is compressed that gives a relationship between wheel center forces at different speeds such that the force at 4 m/s divided by the force at 2 m/s is greater than 2. In addition, the tire has supporting side walls that combine with the wheel's supporting ring to allowed continued running when deflated.
