The piston (14) has a cavity machined around a central axis of the piston to form a surface forming bowl (18). The surface forming bowl presents a central spigot (20) whose axis of symmetry merges with the central axis. The central spigot has a protrusion (25) extending towards a peripheral wall (23) and towards a bottom of the bowl such that fuel spray swirls without any deposit.
