Tire tread measuring procedure comprises a five stages and is carried out using drive and detection rollers for the wheel, an optical measuring unit and scanner. Tire tread measuring procedure comprises a first stage (101) in which the vehicle is located on a test rig with drive and detection rollers; a second stage (102) in which the wheel with the tire being tested is rotated slowly- at less than 5 kph; a third stage (103) in which an optical measuring instrument is moved across the tire to measure its width and a fourth stage (104) comprising continuous optical measurement of the tire's transverse profile, with the data corresponding to one revolution of the tire recorded. In stage five (105) the data are processed and compared with the regulation norms. The apparatus used for the procedure comprises drive and detection rollers for the wheel, an optical measuring unit and scanner.
