The method involves receiving biometric e.g. fingerprint, data from a user to be recognized, and personalizing a general transformation function stored in a processing unit (1) with a user parameter. The user parameter is a personal identification number of the user. The personalized transformation function is applied to authentication biometric data and the transformed authentication biometric data is stored. An independent claim is also included for a user authentication process.
